The absolute best time to climb Sri Pada is during the official pilgrimage season, which runs from December to May. During these months, the weather is mostly dry and the path is beautifully illuminated at night.

Avoid climbing during the off season from June to November. The heavy monsoon rains make the steep stone steps incredibly slippery and dangerous, and the path lights are turned off.

April is generally the busiest month due to the Sri Lankan New Year holidays. If you want good weather but fewer crowds, late January or early February is the perfect time to make the ascent.
