The absolute best reaction is to simply ignore them completely. Do not make eye contact, do not reach out to pet them, and do not offer them any food. If you remain calm and unresponsive, they will quickly realize you are boring and wander off to find shade elsewhere.

They are incredibly used to tourists and usually just want a cool place to sleep near your sunbed. If you genuinely want them to leave, standing up tall and confidently pointing away while firmly saying go will usually make them trot away instantly.
