Beach dogs frequently adopt tourists for the day simply hoping for companionship or a completely accidental dropped snack. If the dog is friendly and acting calmly you absolutely do not need to chase it away. Just ignore it and let it walk with you.

However if you feel threatened or simply want it to leave stop walking completely turn to face the dog firmly point your finger away and say go aggressively. The vast majority of local street dogs are incredibly submissive and will instantly retreat if you show firm dominance.
