I want to try the real colonial recipe. I know many places sell rice and curry wrapped in a banana leaf and call it Lamprais.

For the most historically accurate Dutch Burgher Lamprais, you must visit the VOC Cafe at the Dutch Burgher Union DBU in Bambalapitiya. A true Lamprais should contain a mixed meat curry usually beef, pork, and mutton, frikkadels meat balls, blachan prawn paste, ash plantain, and brinjals. It never includes fish or boiled eggs, which is a common modern misconception.
