I want to try this traditional sweet. Do street vendors sell it near the lake.

Bombayi Motai is a magical, wispy, incredibly sweet spun sugar treat that looks like bright pink cotton candy. You cannot usually find it in formal restaurants. You must look for the roaming street vendors ringing a small hand bell.

In Kandy, these vendors frequently walk along the paved pathways directly surrounding Kandy Lake in the late afternoon. They carry a large aluminum tin holding the sugary treat and serve it sandwiched between two thin, crispy wafers. It is a fantastic, cheap local experience.
