Will Kandy actually cut power during Perahera or is my guesthouse just scaring me about the fan
Host said bring a power bank, festival week the grid acts up. I have to charge a CPAP. Is there a published CEB cut this week or is this 2022 muscle memory. Hotel is near the lake.

The procession route is lit on purpose. I have not seen a scheduled island-wide cut list for tonight. What you get in an old lake house is a local trip when a transformer complains, 10-40 minutes. For a CPAP: tell the hotel now, ask if they have a generator or an inverter plug, and bring the power bank as backup. Check cebcare.ceb.lk outage map for your suburb, not a Facebook rumour.
Two blinks in three nights in Ampitiya, nothing on the lake on parade night. Fan went off, street stayed on.
SMS INT and the account number to 1987 works if the hotel will give you the account number. Most tourists just use the map.
Scam Watch: kandy
TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
