Will PickMe even show cars after the parade or do we walk back to Ampitiya in the rain
No reserved seat, standing tonight, hotel 2 km past the lake. Last night the app was a graveyard until 10.40 then three cars appeared at once. Is that the pattern. Surge? Or do we just start walking the second the last drum goes by.

Drivers cannot sit inside the loop while it is closed, so the app looks dead. When police open a corridor, they flood in. Walk toward Gopallawa / the railway side as soon as the crowd thins - that is where the cars are allowed to idle. A street tuk-tuk at the kerb on Dalada Veediya at 10:15 will quote a festival number. If you walk 10 minutes first, PickMe becomes normal-ish.
Pattern last night was exactly that - nothing, nothing, then cars. We had started walking and cancelled the first surge. Second ping was fine.
