I realized our trip coincides with a full moon Poya day. Will beach bars and hotel restaurants still serve beer or cocktails during this holiday?

Just buy your beer or spirits from a local Wine Stores the day BEFORE Poya. You can drink it privately in your room or villa balcony without any issues.

Selling or serving alcohol anywhere in public—including hotels, bars, and wine stores—is strictly illegal on Poya days. It is a holy day of Buddhist observance.
