The hot air balloon experience over Dambulla is genuinely one of the most magical things you can do in Sri Lanka. Flights take off at sunrise around five thirty in the morning and last about an hour total. From the air you get a stunning birds eye view of Sigiriya Rock fortress, Pidurangala, surrounding paddy fields, ancient reservoirs, and dense jungle teeming with wildlife.
