I am planning a birding photography trip to the East Coast. Have the winter migrants left, or is it a good time for nesting shots.

By late April, most of the northern winter migrants have begun their journey back. However, this is an incredible time for resident wetland birds. The water levels in the Kumana villus drop, concentrating the fish, which brings massive flocks of Painted Storks, Spoonbills, and Pelicans. It is peak nesting season for these species, offering brilliant behavioral photography opportunities.
