How can we avoid the main trail crowd and get a unique angle for photographs.

Instead of stopping at the main crowded viewpoint on Ella Rock, walk slightly further past the main ledge into the eucalyptus forest. There is a secondary clearing there that looks down over the Ella Gap and is almost always completely empty, perfect for quiet photography.
