Are there dangerous monkeys at Dambulla Cave Temple.

The entire pathway leading up to the Dambulla Cave Temple is heavily populated by massive troops of incredibly confident macaque monkeys. They are highly observant and very quick.
To completely ensure a perfectly safe entirely peaceful walk you must simply stash every single item securely inside a tightly zipped backpack before you start the climb and never make direct sustained eye contact with the larger male monkeys.
They are absolutely not aggressive unless you provoke them but they are incredibly skilled highly specialized thieves. If you openly carry plastic bags water bottles or any exposed snacks they will absolutely aggressively snatch them directly from your hands.
