Yes there are numerous unofficial self appointed guides aggressively loitering near the ticket office and the main stairs. They often provide highly inaccurate historical information and aggressively demand massive exorbitant tips at the end of the tour.

If you genuinely want a deeply educational historic tour you must explicitly request an officially licensed highly trained guide directly from the main ticket counter. The official guides wear prominent government identification badges and charge a heavily regulated fair standard fee.
