The current entrance ticket for foreign tourists visiting the Dambulla Cave Temple is 2000 Sri Lankan Rupees, which converts to approximately 6 or 7 USD depending on the daily exchange rate. It is incredibly affordable compared to Sigiriya.
You absolutely must remember to purchase your ticket at the small booth located at the very bottom of the hill before you start climbing the stairs. If you hike all the way to the top without a ticket, the guards will force you to walk all the way back down to buy one.
