Is Pidurangala still about 1,000 rupees and actually better at sunrise?
Not made of money after the safari. People say Pidurangala view of Sigiriya is the shot and it is a temple ticket. How hard, how early, dress code?

Ticket at Pidurangala Sigiri Rajamaha Viharaya is commonly LKR 1,000 per adult in recent write-ups. Office about 5:00-18:00. 30-45 min up, last bit is a scramble. Modest dress through the temple, shoulders and knees, shoes off at the reclining Buddha. You are looking at Sigiriya, not climbing it.
Sunrise late August is around 6am. Headlamp, water, cash. Way cheaper than USD 35.
Do both if you can. Pidurangala sunrise, Sigiriya after breakfast when the fresco wall is open and the stairs are already baking.
