Sri Lankan homestay hosts are incredibly accommodating, but their default cooking uses heavy coconut milk, oil, and roasted spices. If you want a wellness diet, you must explicitly request it the day before. Ask them for "Kola Kenda" (herbal porridge) for breakfast, and simple boiled vegetables or clear broths for dinner. Tell them "No oil, no chili" to ensure it fits an Ayurvedic profile.

The Kola Kenda porridge is amazing. It looks like green sludge but tastes incredibly earthy and fresh.

Yes, fresh papaya or King Coconut is available everywhere and is the ultimate natural detox.

Also ask them not to use Maldive Fish (Umbulakada) if you want the meals to be strictly vegetarian.
