Baby is screaming on the lake kerb - is there a quieter street one block back
He was fine until the whips. Now he is inconsolable and we are pinned front-row on the lake with no reverse gear. People keep saying "just a bit more." Is there actually a quieter parallel one block off Dalada where we can still hear it without cooking him, or is the whole grid like this.

Yes. One block inland off the lake, the sound drops from physical to merely loud. You will lose the elephants. You will keep the baby. Do it now - a screaming infant in a front-row squeeze is how families get separated. The procession is a religious line, not a concert you have to finish.
We bailed to the grid behind Queen's last night. Could still hear drums. Could sit on a step. Gave him a bottle and came back for ten minutes of the casket on the way home. No medals for lasting.
Ear-covering plus inland is the move. Do not try to "push through to the hotel" along the route. Go perpendicular, then parallel.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
