Our driver asked us to buy incredibly expensive textbooks for his kids. Is this genuine.

This is a very common, highly organized emotional scam where the driver takes you to a specific partner shop, you pay a massively inflated price for the books, and later the driver simply returns the books to the shopkeeper and they split your cash. Always politely decline these requests and donate to recognized registered charities instead.
