Do home stays in Kandy provide dinner.
3 Answers from travellers
Yes, almost every authentic home stay in Kandy offers home cooked meals, and it is usually the absolute highlight of the tourists entire trip. The host mothers are famously proud of their culinary skills.
Breakfast is typically included in the room rate, featuring string hoppers or milk rice. Dinner is usually offered for a very small additional fee. You will experience a massive, highly traditional rice and curry feast containing six or seven different vegetable dishes that you simply cannot find in commercial restaurants.
Just ensure you let the hosts know early in the morning if you want dinner that night, so they have plenty of time to visit the local market and buy fresh ingredients.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
