Bank is dead and gen is off - which phone is actually the 5am alarm
We may leave for Ella at 5 (other thread) or the Colombo people may start at 3. Bank 0. Gen off. One wall socket if we are lucky. Partner set 5.00 on the empty-bank phone. I want the alarm on the brick that is actually on the wall. Which phone is the 5am, or do we also ask the house for a wake-up they will not do.

Alarm on the phone that is plugged in. The empty bank is a brick, not a clock. A 05:00 Ella van will not wait because your lock-screen died at 04:52. Do not ask the host for a knock - gen off, house asleep, he already shushed a floor. Two alarms on the same charging phone, volume up, not silent-from-the-parade.
We used the plugged phone, left at 5.08. The bank-phone people overslept and kept 6.28 by accident. Fine if that is the trip.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
