Best safe street food in Colombo - where to go?
I want to try real Colombo street food but I'm worried about hygiene. Any spots that locals recommend that are relatively safe for tourists?

Galle Face Green at sunset is classic for isso vadai, kottu, and fresh coconut water - very touristy but generally safe because of high turnover. For more local experience, try 'Pettah Market' area or 'Borella' for proper kottu and short eats. 'Hotel de Pilawoos' is a Colombo institution for kottu and is clean. Always choose busy stalls with high turnover.
Avoid anything sitting out in the sun for hours. Freshly made items like hoppers, string hoppers, or kottu made in front of you are safest. Carry hand sanitizer.
Pettah and Galle Face noted. Looking forward to trying proper kottu.
