To spot the Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush, known locally as the Arrenga, you must be at the park entrance right at dawn. They are extremely shy and prefer the dark, damp streams near the forested areas before the sun fully rises. By 8:00 AM, your chances of photographing them drop significantly. Dress warmly, as April mornings up there are still quite chilly.
