We are staying in Nuwara Eliya and want to hike to Bomburu Ella. Is the trail muddy right now, and are there local food stalls near the waterfall.

Bomburu Ella is the widest waterfall in Sri Lanka. The trail is heavily trafficked but gets incredibly muddy and slippery during the rains. Wear proper hiking boots. Yes, there are small village stalls near the entrance selling fresh strawberries, sweet corn, and hot plain tea. It is a very rewarding hike.

Do not try to cross the river at the base of the falls. The rocks are smooth as glass and people slip constantly.
