Sri Lanka is wonderful for active seniors with the right pacing. ADD: short scenic train hop (Nanu Oya to Ella, 2-3 hours, beautiful, reserved 1st class A/C is comfortable; skip the full 7-hour Kandy-Ella endurance ride), Madu River boat safari, Galle Fort by tuk-tuk with stops, Udawalawe safari (open vehicle but level, well-maintained tracks), Kandy Temple of the Tooth (main floor, lots of seating), Sigiriya museum and gardens without the rock climb. SKIP: Adams Peak, Pidurangala scramble, Sigiriya rock summit (the steel staircases are demanding), long bus rides, late-night kottu joints. STAYS: 4-star and above heritage and chain hotels (Heritance Kandalama, Cinnamon properties, Jetwing) have lifts, accessible bathrooms, and proper Western-style mattresses; family-run guesthouses with steep stairs are best avoided. Hire a private chauffeur for door-to-door comfort, plan rest days, and keep medication in hand luggage. Many seniors love Sri Lanka.

My parents loved a half-day Ayurveda massage on the south coast. Gentle, relaxing, and you can pre-book at a proper licensed centre. Big hit with the senior crowd.

For Sigiriya, the dad/grandparent move: tour the water gardens and the lower terraces (level walking, ~1 hour) while the younger family climbs the rock. They still see the whole site, just from below.

Short train hop only, Sigiriya gardens instead of the rock, private chauffeur. They are going to love this. Bedankt!
