Significant investment has been allocated in the 2026 budget for Sigiriya and Trincomalee airports. Upgrades are underway to improve domestic flight connectivity. While most travelers still use Bandaranaike International Airport, internal flights are becoming more frequent. These upgrades aim to reduce travel time between Colombo and the major heritage sites significantly by the end of this year.
