No the sale and public consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited nationwide on all Poya days out of respect for Buddhist traditions. All liquor stores supermarkets and public bars are legally required to close completely.

Even luxury five star hotels and high end resorts will completely close their main bars and refuse to serve alcoholic cocktails or beer in their public dining areas.

The absolute best strategy is to purchase your alcohol from a local wine store the day before Poya. You are perfectly allowed to consume it privately inside your own hotel room without any issues.
