I missed the Mirissa season. Is it possible to see whales on the east coast right now or do I have to wait for later in the year.

April is actually the start of the season in Trincomalee. As the whales migrate from the south to the east, they are often spotted offshore. The seas are usually very calm in April, making it a great time for boat trips. You can also combine this with snorkeling at Pigeon Island.
