Cultural triangle first week of September-ish (we land 21 Aug). Do not want a 7-hour south dash just for a leopard. Is Wilpattu actually good or just "empty and far"?

Wilpattu is the biggest park, villu lakes, fewer jeeps than Yala Block 1. Leopards yes, less circus. Distances inside are long, full-day jeep is the better product. Same foreigner permit idea as Yala. Take water, take the 5am start. From Anuradhapura it is about 1.5-2 hours to the gate. Pack lunch.

One leopard at 4pm, maybe 8 jeeps all day. Mosquitoes. Loved it more than the Yala parking-lot sighting my friends had in February.
