Yes, every carriage on the Kandy to Ella train has a toilet. The first class carriages feature western style toilets that are generally kept quite clean. The second and third class carriages have squat toilets. While they are regularly maintained by the staff, the cleanliness can deteriorate during the long, seven hour journey due to the massive crowds, so bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
