Is 12go.asia reliable for Sri Lanka train tickets?

Yes, 12go is highly reliable, BUT you pay a massive premium. They basically send an agent to the station to buy the ticket for you. It costs 3x what the ticket actually costs.

I used a local agency called Visit Sri Lanka Tours instead of 12go. They delivered the physical tickets right to my hotel in Colombo. Much better customer service.

If the government site (seatreservation.railway.gov.lk) shows no seats, 12go will not magically find them. They use the same inventory. Keep trying the official site exactly 30 days before your travel date.
