He WhatsApped. Stood the loop from 4pm, dumped us, watched from a wall, now "I can take you at 5, I know the road." 4pm-kerb lock was tomorrow afternoon. Sunday van was the other couple. This is a 5am airport / Ella / Colombo run with a man whose Friday night was the same kerb as ours. Book him because he already knows the pin, or book someone who went to bed.

No. 1,749 dead this year. A driver who stood the 4th is a tired driver at 05:00. Thank him. Book a morning car from a desk / a driver who says they are sleeping now. Screenshot whatever you book. Meet at your gate.
Extra Tourist Police exist because of last year's fake-guide hustle. A 5am "I know the road" from the same number that offered a kerb is still that family. 081 22 33 333 if it turns into a row.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
