For photography, Little Adams Peak is actually better for sunrise. The sun rises directly in front of you, casting incredible light down the Ella Gap valley. Ella Rock is a much higher and tougher hike, but you are often looking sideways or into the shadows during the actual sunrise. Plus, Little Adams Peak takes only 30 mins to climb, so you can easily carry a tripod in the dark.
Watch out for the stray dogs though, they will follow you hoping for snacks.
Is it safe to walk to Little Adams Peak alone at 5 AM.
