Ella Rock vs Little Adam's Peak — which hike should I prioritise if I only have one morning in Ella?

Both hikes start from Ella town and both are worth doing, but they serve different purposes. Here is the honest comparison:

Little Adam's Peak:
- Distance/time: 1.5km one way, 45–60 minutes up, 30 minutes down
- Difficulty: Easy. Paved path for most of it, then a short rocky scramble at the top
- Views: Panoramic across the Ella Gap — 360-degree views of the valley, Ella Rock, and the surrounding tea estates. Spectacular.
- Best time: Sunrise (leave town at 5:30 AM) or late afternoon (4–5 PM)
- Getting lost: Essentially impossible — follow the path
- Crowds: Popular, gets busy by 8 AM

Ella Rock:
- Distance/time: 3.5km one way, 2–3 hours up, 1.5 hours down
- Difficulty: Moderate. You walk along the railway track, then through active tea estates with no clear signage. Several junctions where it's easy to take the wrong path.
- Views: The summit is forested — views are partial and only spectacular if you push to the actual summit rock. The approach through tea estates is beautiful.
- Getting lost: Yes, this is a real risk. The trail through the estates is marked by a series of painted rocks but they're easy to miss. A local guide (LKR 1,500–2,500) is genuinely recommended for a first visit.
