Everything on the lake is shuttered at 8.20 - where do we even eat after the procession

We did not eat from 4 because we were holding a kerb. Procession went by. Every rice-and-curry on Dalada has the roller door down. Hotel kitchen WhatsApped "after 10 if the road opens." Kid will eat a chair. Is there actually food within a 15-minute walk or do we live on peanuts.

Route-side places close because they are the route, or they sold gallery dinners that finished at 6. Walk off Dalada - toward Colombo Street back-lanes, toward the market side once police let you, or toward Gopallawa hotels. Kottu and hoppers restart when the blocks lift, often 9.30-11 on a Kumbal night. The lake loop itself will look dead for a while. That is the cordon, not a famine.

We walked 12 minutes away from the temple last night and found an open hotel restaurant that did not care we were sweaty. Paid tourist money. Fine.

If the hotel said 10, believe them and buy biscuits now from any still-open pharmacy/supermarket on the bypass.
