Take the hiking path towards Kithal Ella waterfall. It is a true hidden gem tucked into the jungle right off the railway tracks, just before the steep hike up Ella Rock. Because it requires a bush hike, tour buses cannot access it. The pool at the base is very calm during the dry season and perfectly safe for a secluded, quiet swim.

No, absolutely do not cliff jump anywhere in Ella. The rocks are jagged and hidden just below the water surface.

If the water looks brown and muddy, do not swim. It means heavy rain upstream and flash floods could happen.

Bring leech socks! That specific trail is very damp and the leeches are everywhere after a rainstorm.
