Finding quiet surfing stays away from Arugam Bay partying
4 Answers from travellers
If you want quiet but still want to be near Main Point, you need to look slightly inland. Walk 5 minutes away from the beach road towards the lagoon. Look for places like Upali Beach Surf Resort or small family-run spots on the cross streets. They are much quieter, cheaper, and totally disconnected from the loud beach bar bass.
The inland spots also serve way better breakfast. Traditional coconut roti instead of overpriced toast.
Avoid any place directly on the sand if you want to sleep. The bass vibrates the wooden cabanas until 4 AM.
There is a great family run homestay near the bridge. Ask for Kamal, he will also arrange your tuktuk to Peanut Farm for cheap.
