Flat tires are very common on the rough roads. Fortunately, small tire repair shops are located on almost every single road in Sri Lanka. Just look for a tiny shack with old tires stacked outside or a sign saying Vulcanizing.

A local mechanic will usually patch a simple puncture for less than 500 Rupees in about ten minutes. If you have a completely destroyed tire, reputable rental agencies will reimburse you if you buy a replacement tire, provided you show them the receipt.
