Friend in Peradeniya says come now the tape is down - taxi tonight or wait for the gardens at 7.30
Friend has a spare room in Peradeniya. Gardens open 7.30. Tape on our alley drooped. Partner wants to "just go" so we are west of tomorrow's loop. Is a 9.34 taxi to Peradeniya a real move or a 5.5 km crawl for a garden that is shut.

Foreign-adult ticket is LKR 3,540 during opening hours. Café 8.00-5.00. Tomorrow morning is the actual garden. Tonight is a bedroom.
Gardens are 7.30am-6.00pm. There is nothing to see at 9.34 except a gate. If the spare room is the point - sleep west of Saturday's 1.27 km tape, easier out toward Colombo - that is a lodging decision, not a botanic one. Gopallawa / Old Peradeniya Road are the published vehicle corridors. Do not walk 5.5 km at 9.34 after a kerb night.
We slept in Peradeniya after Wednesday and came in Saturday afternoon for the Kumbal. Fine. We would not have gone for the orchids at 9.30.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
