We are partying at a beach club in Mirissa until late. How do we make sure we get a safe, sober tuk-tuk driver at 3 AM.

Do not just jump into the first tuk-tuk parked outside the club exit. Those drivers have often been awake for 20 hours. The absolute safest method is to ask your guesthouse owner the afternoon before to pre-book a trusted driver from their village to pick you up at a specific time. Alternatively, use the PickMe app to ensure you get a tracked driver.

If you hail one on the street, negotiate the price before you get in. They overcharge drastically at night.

Never walk back along the dark beach. Stray dog packs are very aggressive at night.
