Airport to galle driver scam? How to not get ripped on arrival
First time in SL. Worried about getting scammed on the way to south coast. Any tips or good drivers people used recently?

Best is prebook through your hotel. They send reliable guy with sign. If not, official airport taxi counter is safer than random guys outside. Don't go with anyone who approaches you first. Price to Galle area should be around 12-15k LKR depending on vehicle. Anything crazy high, walk away.
We prebooked and it was smooth. Guy was waiting with name board, AC car, fair price. Worth it for peace of mind with kid.
I used the counter, was fine but a bit more expensive than prebook. Still better than getting hustled outside.
Yeah prebook is safest. Or use the official taxi desk inside. The guys outside can be pushy and overcharge. My guests who prebooked had zero issues.
Scam Watch: galle
Someone befriends you and offers a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to buy gems at wholesale prices and resell them abroad for huge profit. They may show you fake export certificates. The gems are worthless glass or low-quality stones.
Restaurants without visible prices. Bill arrives with inflated charges (500 LKR coconut becomes 1500 LKR). "Service charges" added without disclosure.
