South Coast travel — private driver or public buses/trains for safety and convenience?
Moving along the south coast (Galle to Mirissa to Tangalle). Driver or public transport?

For moving between south coast towns with luggage or if traveling with others, a private driver is usually more convenient and safer than public transport. Buses are cheap and frequent but can be crowded and uncomfortable with bags. Trains are limited on the south coast. A driver can take you door-to-door, wait for you at sights, and handle luggage easily. For solo travelers on a tight budget, buses work fine during the day in tourist areas. Many people use a mix — driver for longer moves, tuk-tuks or walking for local exploration once settled. Safety is generally good on public transport during daylight in tourist zones.
