Habarana tomorrow - did this week's rain shove the gathering over to Kaudulla already

Safari booked as Minneriya or Kaudulla, driver decides. I keep reading August = Minneriya. We had two wet days up here. Does a rain pulse move the herd overnight. I do not want to pay park fees for the empty tank.

Mid-August is when Minneriya usually holds the gathering - tank down, grass up, 100+ on a good afternoon. A two-day shower does not automatically flip the park. We ask the jeep boys at 1pm. If they say Kaudulla, we go Kaudulla. Do not lock the ticket tonight.

We went Minneriya Wednesday afternoon, maybe 60-80, not the postcard 300, still the most elephants I have seen in one look. Afternoon is better than morning this month.

Hurulu is the wet-season backup, not the August default. If someone tries to sell you Hurulu tomorrow as the gathering, ask why Minneriya is empty first.

Not locking the ticket. Waiting for the 1pm call.
