Heritance Anuradhapura vs a city guesthouse worth the 4x price difference

Honest comparison. Heritance Anuradhapura sits in a tropical forest setting about 15 minutes from the sacred city, with proper rooms (AC, hot water that actually stays hot, blackout curtains, balcony), an excellent breakfast buffet that includes string hoppers and kola kanda, an infinity pool overlooking the jungle, and the gentle hum of a properly managed property. The city guesthouses are honest, often family-run, but at 50 USD you get basic AC, a fan, intermittent hot water in some, simple breakfast (toast and eggs or hoppers), and street noise. For a couple on a once-in-a-lifetime trip wanting the post-temple-walk pool decompression, the resort is worth it for ONE night. For a backpacker or anyone planning to be out from 5am to 9pm anyway, the guesthouse is fine - you sleep there. Compromise many people make: 1 night Heritance, 1 night guesthouse, total still cheaper than two resort nights.
Doing the split. One Heritance with the cycling tour, one guesthouse. Cheers!
A specific Heritance perk: their cycling tours leave from the property at dawn with breakfast packed by the kitchen and a guide who knows back-routes through the ruins. That tour alone justifies the night for many guests.
I did 1 Heritance + 1 guesthouse exactly as suggested. The contrast was actually nice; one night relaxed, one night more immersed.
