We want to avoid the crowds at Ravana. Are there secret hiking trails to hidden waterfalls near Ella Rock that tourists miss.

Yes! Instead of climbing the main peak of Ella Rock, take the path towards Kithal Ella waterfall. It is tucked into the jungle right off the railway tracks. It is much smaller than Ravana but has a great, safe pool for swimming and is usually completely empty. Just watch out for leeches.

Make sure you bring all your trash back with you. There are no bins in the jungle.

We had the entire Kithal Ella falls to ourselves for two hours. It was amazing.
