The climb to the Dambulla Cave Temple is vastly significantly easier than Sigiriya. It involves roughly 360 sloping stone steps taking an average person only about fifteen to twenty minutes to comfortably reach the magnificent upper terrace.

The pathway is beautifully shaded by massive ancient trees and offers spectacular sweeping views of the surrounding flat plains as you ascend. Just be highly vigilant of the massive troops of wild monkeys lounging on the stairs as they will actively attempt to steal any exposed snacks or water bottles from your hands.
