I saw a documentary about an old steam train called the Viceroy Special. Can normal tourists book tickets for this?

The Viceroy Special steam train is usually only chartered for private groups and doesn't run on a regular public schedule. However, they sometimes attach a single luxury vintage carriage (the Viceroy II car) to the regular public trains going to Kandy or Ella. You can book this through the JF Tours website.

Ah, attaching a vintage car to a normal train makes sense. I will look up JF Tours right now. Cheers.

I took the Viceroy II carriage from Colombo to Kandy! It has beautiful mahogany wood paneling, AC, and they serve a full English breakfast on board. Highly recommend booking it via JF Tours.
