How to do the Liptons Seat sunrise tour from Ella.
3 Answers from travellers
To see the sunrise at Liptons Seat, you must hire a private taxi or tuk tuk straight from Ella very early in the morning, around 4:30 AM, as the public buses do not run that early.
The drive takes about an hour and a half. You will wind through incredibly beautiful, misty tea plantations to reach the viewpoint just as the sun illuminates the valleys.
If you want a cheaper option and do not mind missing the sunrise, you can take the morning train from Ella to Haputale, and then catch a local bus up to the Dambatenne Tea Factory before taking a tuk tuk to the summit.

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
