How to hike to Kurullangala ancient rock art near Ella.
3 Answers from travellers
Kurullangala is a highly challenging hike to an ancient, pre historic rock art site located high on a cliff face near Ella. The trail is treacherous and almost impossible to find alone.
You absolutely must hire a specialized local guide from the nearby Karandagolla village. They have the necessary ropes and climbing knowledge to safely navigate the sheer rock faces leading to the paintings.
Ask your hotel manager in Ella to contact the Karandagolla community leaders to arrange a trusted guide. Do not attempt this climb if you have a fear of heights or lack proper hiking boots.

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
