Is there a direct bus route down the east coast or do we have to transfer.

There is no frequent direct luxury bus running straight from Jaffna to Trincomalee. The easiest public transport method is to take a bus to Vavuniya or Habarana first, and then transfer to an eastbound bus to Trincomalee.
