We paid 1,400 for the same plate in Galle in July. This afternoon a guy off the route wanted 2,200 because festival. NCPI 7.2 popped on Ada Derana. Am I being festive-mugged or is this just 2026.

July NCPI 7.2% is a real print (3-year high); restaurants-and-hotels were called out around 10% y/y in the Colombo index write-ups. That does not make 2,200 the law. Off-route tourist kottu at night in Perahera week lands 1,600-2,500 depending on how lost you look. If the plate is huge and chicken is actual chicken, pay it once and walk further tomorrow.

1,800 at a hotel restaurant, 1,200 once we got 15 minutes away. The 2,200 guy had a view of a cone.

2,200 LKR is about USD 6.5 at 333. Not a scam. Not a bargain.
